Stage 1. Market research and analysis

  • Initiated the project with comprehensive market research, analyzing competitors and identifying gaps within the app. Conducted surveys and focus groups with potential users to understand their needs, preferences, and pain points.

  • Synthesized research findings to develop a clear value proposition for the app, focusing on unique features such as the claiming a home, homegenius IQ, home search, and the geniusprice.

Stage 2. Concept development of key features and functionality

  • We gathered the design team to start the conceptualization phase, brainstorming to generate innovative ideas that align with user needs and project goals. Developed scenarios to guide the design process and ensure a user-centered approach.

  • Mapped out user flows for key app functions, including the main landing page, marketing features, and claiming a home process. Prioritized simplicity and intuitiveness in the navigation structure to enhance usability. Incorporating our AI models to give homeowners some amazing tools.

Stage 3. UI design and prototyping

  • Created detailed mockups using Figma, focusing on crafting an inviting and user-friendly interface. Implemented the ideas stakeholders found to be the most innovative and best for marketing.

  • Developed high-fidelity prototypes that showcased the updated core features, including AI Room Score, a dynamic home page, claiming a home, and an integrated the search functionality. Conducted iterative design reviews with the team & stakeholders to refine the prototypes.

  • Organized user testing sessions with Usertesting.com to gather feedback on the app's usability and appeal. Utilized both in-person and the remote testing methods to collect a wide range of insights.

  • Reviewed feedback to pinpoint usability issues and areas needing improvement. Made design updates to address user concerns, and marketing enhancements, to improve the app's functionality, and elevate the overall user experience and marketability.

Stage 5. Final presentation and handoff

  • Compiled and presented the project report to stakeholders, detailing the design process, user testing findings, and final app design. Highlighting the app's potential for marketing towards home owners, and real estate agents.

  • Design deliverables handed off to the development team. Provided support to ensure the best transition from design to development.

Reflections

This project presented a remarkable opportunity for me to apply UX/UI design principles in a real estate context. It allowed me to contribute to a product that promotes home owner tools and valuation of properties and incorporated some value with our AI features. The project pushed me to think creatively about how to meet the needs and preferences of users in the real estate market, enhancing my skills in research, design, and collaboration. The experience underscored the importance of user feedback in the design process and highlighted the significant impact of thoughtful design on user engagement and satisfaction in the real estate industry.

Reflections
